Klinikum Großhadern
University of Munich, Germany
April 9-12, 2008

Dear colleagues and friends,

Over the last years, the field of clinical hyperthermia has become increasingly dynamic. Recent results of randomised phase II and III studies as well as ongoing basic research activities have firmly established hyperthermia as a treatment option in conjunction with standard regimens in the field of oncology. Constantly increasing insight into the molecular principles and clinical applications require more than ever an interdisciplinary and international exchange of ideas.

It is therefore with great pleasure that we invite you to the 10th International Congress of Hyperthermic Oncology which will take place in Munich from April 9th to April 12th, 2008. The conference will be held on campus of the “Klinikum Grosshadern", one of Europe’s largest university hospitals. Founded in 1986 and supported by the Bavarian government as well as the German Cancer Foundation, the hyperthermia group in Munich is one of the best-established research and treatment units for hyperthermia in Germany.

Thanks to the funding of the ESHO, STM and ASHO societies we are once again looking forward to an exciting meeting, where fields of basic research such as the role of heat shock proteins, novel clinical applications as well as diagnostic procedures will be explored. Due to its great success at the previous "ESHO" meeting, the congress will begin with an "ESHO School", scheduled for April 7th and 8th, 2008. National and international experts specialized in various fields of oncology, biology and medical engineering will devote a variety of state-of-the-art lectures to recent advances in their fields of research, supplemented by lectures on the role of hyperthermia in the given context.

Being a vital and exciting city, Munich can certainly make your stay very pleasant. From the alpine mountains to the 922-acre English Garden and traditional Bavarian festivities – you will find something to please your taste. Please spare some of your time to enjoy the many resources that this city offers to the visitor.

We are looking forward to interesting scientific presentations and animated discussions and warmly welcome you to Munich!

Sincerely,

Rolf D. Issels
