ESHO School
We are very pleased to announce that for the first time an ESHO School on Clinical Hyperthermia will be organized on April 7th and 8th 2008. For maximum convenience to the participants of the both happening the ICHO2008 will connect seamless to ESHO School.
Over the last years, the field of clinical hyperthermia has become increasingly dynamic. Recent results of randomized phase II and III studies as well as ongoing basic research activities have firmly established hyperthermia as a treatment option in conjunction with standard regimens in the field of oncology.
The continuous expanding interest in hyperthermia in combination with the increasing insight into the molecular principles and clinical applications of hyperthermia are clear indicators for the need of an interdisciplinary and international exchange of knowledge through a focussed training program. This is exactly what ESHO School offers to their participants.
Target Audience
This educational activity is at an advanced level and is oriented towards medical doctors, specialists in oncology, including medical and radiation oncologists, but also engineers, technicians and biophysicists, who are already performing hyperthermia treatment or intent to start the application of hyperthermia in clinical practice. The ESHO School is also open to industry representatives.
Goals
- Provide basic knowledge on the clinical and technical application of regional hyperthermia in oncology.
- Give new perspectives in the field of hyperthermia and translational research.
Educational Method And Plan
The teaching program of the school consists of theoretical courses together with practical hands-on training. The didactic presentations will be given by highly recognized experts and will address:
- Biological rationale of hyperthermia
- Clinical results
- Treatment protocols
- Hyperthermia physics
- Current hyperthermia equipment
- Quality assurance and control
- Hyperthermia treatment planning
